JUDITH BED AND BREAKFAST-August 18
TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2009
It's quiet....get up....shower.....OOPS.....need clean you know what! Bring suit cases in.....all of them....bags.. etc.....Empty all of them on bed in spare bedroom.....Wow, we just lucked into a two bedroom suite .....includes breakfast too. And free laundry privileges. I don't have to get a roll of quarters. This house of Judith is really not a bad. A good bed and breakfast stop if you are in the area. Look for it if your are in Lacey, WA, THE HOUSE OF JUDITH. A good bed at least. Take a Look:

Haven't tried the breakfast yet. Cleaned out van....ugh! Brought in cooler. Organized stuff in van. Hey New York Payton's, (if you read my blog) your experience with the Grand Caravan's helped sway my mind towards buying one....(Used 2008) So far so good.
Put clothes in wash......Help! Help! This is not one of those ordinary washers. BUTTONS...BUTTONS. I counted 31 different options. Do I separate jeans from socks? T shirts from jeans? What do they mean BULK ITEMS? Where is the option: "PUT EVERYTHING IN AT THE SAME TIME?" I'll try that option.....see what comes out...

Call for breakfast. Skim milk for cereal? That's like drinking colored water. Okay it's enhanced skim milk.......hm....not bad. Coffee very good. Muffins too. Hostess made too many for Christmas....Has these left over in freezer. Funny she never sent me any. She always sends me a box of bake goods for Christmas....Lately just cookies...(at my request) They finally arrive all crumbs. Good for topping over Ice Cream.By the way did I tell you that Judith is my sister. She is two years older than me. Looks as young as I do. Looks good. Keeps herself in good shape. Goes to the gym everyday.. She maintains her house....paints--lays tile--yard work--power sprays--has a workbench in her garage. Take a look at her work......
She married a young sailor named Palmer Berg who was stationed at the Great Lakes Navel Training Center in April ,1945. He was related to a member of Midwest Corps where we attended. That is how she met him. I had the honor of walking her down the aisle. I was 16 going on 17 . Captain Ronald Rowland, the officer at Midwest Corps (church) performed the ceremony. Home for Palmer was Olympia, WA. So that is where they eventually settled. In 1954 Wilma and I along with my mother drove out here in a 1952 FORD (used). Since then we have always flown. This time I wanted to drive.....See some of the sites we have not seen since then......YES EVEN THE CORN PALACE.
Judy, has been a very active in the local school system. President of the County Council of the PTA. President of the Olympia Symphony Guild. President of the North Thurston Public school Education Foundation. At the present time she serves as a member of the Women's Auxiliary of The Salvation Army in Olympia. So much for the personal stuff....Much much more I would like to relate to you, because being here brings a flood of memories. Especially as I write this blog.
It was Palmer who thought me how to shoot a rifle....WOW! What a kick. He also impressed on me the importance of gun safety. Caught my first fish in the lake ( they lived on a lake front property)...by accident....didn't know what to do with it.....how to unhook.....slippery thing.....hold still.....Took me with him on his beat He was working for the Liquor Board enforcement division. Was quite an experience riding in the police car. He was a good guy. He died in March of 1986. I was attending a conference in Cleveland, Ohio when I received word of his death. I immediately changed my flight and flew directly to Seattle to support the family.
My mom died in April 1986. My brother George in June of 1986. We were transferred to Detroit from Chicago in June of 1986. I came back to bury George. My older Paul died one year later in July of 1987. And I returned to Chicago to bury my brother Paul. Needless to say that year was a most difficult year for me. I shed many tears between our home and my office on HWY 75 in Detroit. Now why did I write all of that.....I guess writing this blog brings up some of those memories.
Spent the whole day catching up on our All Around The States Adventure.
Kathy Allan, wife of my nephew Allen Berg (lives about 125 north) was supposed to join us for Supper......unable to come....will come tomorrow. Randy and Vicki (another nephew) will join us for supper. Randy is a PE & Health Teacher and Vicki is a 6,7,8th. teacher. Had a great time with them. Good people. We ate grilled pork chops (1/2" thick too much for my small stomach) salad and green beans. Take a look:

I would solicit your prayers of one of their daughters, Roxanne. Two years ago Mary my Sister and I attended her wedding in Simi Valley, Ca. Roxanne was a vibrant fun loving young lady. It was a joy to to be able to attend her marriage to Daniel Penney. Both intended to enter the ministry. Daniel was going to enter Seminary and Roxanne had only a few credits to complete to receive her Degree. They went on a honeymoon to Belize and within a month or two after their return she was stricken with ACUTE DISSEMINATED ENCEPHALOMYELITIS a condition that left her paralyzed. Today, three years later, she has movement from the waist up. She still has many issues to deal with. I would ask you to please pray for Gods grace to sustain her-heal her-give her husband Daniel supportive strength.
Pray for us....Talk to you tomorrow.
