KROC CENTER-SEA WORLD
SUNDAY-MONDAY AUGUST 9-10 2009
Worshipped with the Pedersen’s at The Riverside Salvation Army. Leroy & Lu
in photo on the right. Good service. Lunch and we were on our way to Encinita to visit John & Ramona Bathliner.(Ramona is my niece)
Photos to give you and idea of the landscape between Riverside and Encinita.John & Ramona have a lovely home. John designed and remodeled much of his home. His yard is a tropical paradise. Both are retired school teachers. We arrived at their home a few minutes after 5. We were surprised to find out that they had just returned four hours ago from a three week vacation in their motor home. Their vacation took them up to Yellow Stone.
Now here they were preparing a feast of chicken, corn on the cob, salad, etc. Sean and Shannon and their three children, Chasen, Hunter and Griffin were present. Richard and his daughter Loren were their too. Eleven altogether ate out on his patio. I know I should not covet or envy…but…forgive me Lord. I did some of that on that patio.
John and Ramona are just good sharing people. They are giving people. So are their children Sean and Richard. They go out of their way to be kind. By the way Loren , who is 16, is a pretty good water polo player. In fact John was taking her up to a water polo camp where she will learn to improve her techniques. I understand that she is a good swimmer and may in fact begin practicing for (I think) jr. Olympics.
Monday AM we changed our schedule and headed towards San Diego. First we went to the Kroc Center. This is a community center funded by Ray & Joan Kroc Foundation. The following photos will describe their program better than I can. Luke, you would enjoy their skate park. And Christian, they have their
own Performing Arts Center….actors and all. Ice Skating and Ice Hockey rings; two out door swimming pools; Two full size gyms; fully equipped fitness room; and a large soccer field. In addition they have and education center and a pre-school center. We met The Salvation Army Officer-Administrator Captain Van Cleve and had an informative conversation. TAKE LOOK.THE PHOTO SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.

We left the Kroc Center and headed for The Sea World. Yeah! You guessed it, I got lost. What should have been a 20 minute trip became an hour trip. By the time we got there we were hungry….hungry…..hungry. Long line…long line….finally food.
Saw two shows……..and we were ready to leave. Too much walking and too little energy. My heart and head wanted to stay and see more but after just two hours we left. Learned a lesson. Forget Disney Land. Headed for LA and stayed in Fullerton, Ca. just north of Anaheim.
I must say seeing the Kroc Center was well worth the Trip. Tomorrow I will write about our trip toward Hearst Castle-and finally San Francisco
