TRAVEL DAY-SPOKANE SHOPPING MALL-Aaugust 21

Up early and ready to go......need to cover at 300 miles today. We have 500 miles to go. (Yellowstone) Would like to get there by noon of the 22nd........Continental breakfast consisted of coffee-cheerios-toast-danish. Took coffee and left. Had muffins and fruit in van.......

Danger of taking the beauty of the mountains and landscape for granted. I guess if you live here you would. But for us being surrounded by the mountain ranges and blue lakes and rushing streams......you just wanted to park the van by the stream.....pull up a folding chair and read....Weather was warm....breeze cooling. Take a look at the scenery we saw as we headed east through Spokane toward......Drummund Mt....where we planned to stop for the night.


I had to stop in Spokane to purchase a new GPS. I buried my old Mary (GPS). It was time to let her rest. No longer will I hear her give directions.....turn here.....stay on the current road. Wanted to sing taps.......She was my constant companion for two years. Two years......of hearing her voice....Two years of seeing her face light up....Took out the new GPS (purchased from Best Buy on sale) and placed old Mary in the same box... Perhaps give her decent burial when we get back home.

With GPS plugged in and ready to go.....I was ready to make some time........WRONG....WRONG....WRONG.....THE NAVIGATOR (Wilma) had other ideas. As long as we are in this shopping Center.....yes you guessed it....You can take the Mall Queen out of the Malls....even through the highest mountain, but you can't take the Mall out of her.

There it was......THIS HUGE SHOPPING CENTER..You could see THE NAVIGATORS eyes bulging.....the hands moving....and finally the lips moving......"I want to go to that Mall to see what it is like"......THE DRIVER (me) dutifully agreed......and sat out in the van for at least 1 hour.......and some.....waiting for THE NAVIGATOR to return. Return she did......now we can get on our way.

THE DRIVER turned on PRECIOUS MARY(GPS) and we were on our way. Wow was it good to hear her voice.. Never again would I complain about her directions....Never again will I question her instructions. Never again.....well I might just turn her off when I feel like it.

PRECIOUS MARY got us out of this mall and unto HWY 90. Finally we were on our way. Stopped for lunch at some rest stop. I had more pictures....and I thought I had downloaded all of them from my camera. However, after I had downloaded all the photos (I failed to check to see if all were downloaded) I erased them from my camera. I could not go back.

We arrived in Missoula about 5:15 and decided to stop here rather than go on to Drummund. That means we will have to cover 330 Miles tomorrow.

Wilma needed another prescription so we went to K Mart.....they were closed.. Went to Walgreens. They agreed to call our pharmacist Orland on Sat. Morn....Hope pharmacist can get it done.

Time just changed on us....we lost an hour....Pacific time to Mountain time.
